Mary Simpson is an accomplished violinist known for her ability to perform in many genres. Her unique sound combines technique with improvisation and is influenced by her background in classical violin and bluegrass fiddle. She began her career at the age of five, learning Suzuki violin and playing fiddle with her siblings in their family band. After furthering her education at the University of Virginia with a double major in music and economics, Mary has gone on to win numerous awards and contests and has played with many talented musicians including international artists. Her bluegrass band, The Whiskey Rebellion, has toured across the US and showcases Mary’s fiddle playing and singing. Her extensive experience also includes performing with Dave Stewart and Kantara, an international Arab-Appalachian fusion group. She is currently on a world tour with Yanni.
